The Latest

The Owl House did not sell at the auction on Thursday 28th July 2022 and now remains available for offers. The bidders did not reach the reserve price of £135,000. In light of this news, we are considering what to do next and will be in touch with donors/contributors soon. We're incredibly grateful for the support we've received which amounted to £1646 and are humbled that so many people answered 'Yes! to our question, 'would you give a stranger £1 for a dream?' Thank you all.

We are attempting to raise funds to buy the Owl House at auction on 28th July 2022. We are only asking for small donations as there is a risk that we won't raise all the money we need to win at the auction. Whatever funds we raise will be used to support our creative collective if we are not successful in raising the whole amount. Please only donate on the basis that you are happy for this to happen. The funds donated to the Owl House will be isolated and a community interest company formed. This company will continue to pursue the aims set out in our video/below and we will continue to pursue community space for this purpose. We are unable to give refunds as Paypal will still charge it's fees and that would send us in to debt.

The Aims

To purchase the Owl House, renovate it and bring it back in to purpose as a community resource.
To create a community interest company to manage the Owl House property and develop its activities.
To promote creative and wellbeing social enterprise, micro businesses and cultural opportunities in an economically isolated/rural area of North Wales.
To provide a teaching and skills sharing resources to build resilience
To conserve and put sustainable practice in place throughout all aspects of the project.

Why the Project is Important To Us

The Owl House at the moment has a negative impact on the local community because of its run down appearance, however it has great potential to be restored to its previous role in village life. Mental health and isolation is an issue for everyone and diversity in the types of spaces for people to engage are essential.

The Target and the Budget

The Guide Price for the Owl House at auction is £125,000

Extensive structural work is required - the front wall needs pinning/rebuilding
All render is loose around the outside of the property
The roof is dipping due to the falling of the front wall
Plumbing, heating and electrics needed
Drains have positioning issues that need addressing
Full replacement of guttering
Windows - re glazing in parts and renovation or replacement of frames
Damp/cracks caused by poor guttering and movement needs to be addressed and walls re-plastered.
Flooring in some parts of property needs replacing
Broad estimate is in the region of £100K
